These long metal rods are used in conjunction with an O-Ring fixing to secure sculptures in soft or hard ground. The metal O-Ring is welded to a foot and the spike is then inserted through the ring into the ground.
This type of fixing should be adequate for most of the Pangea range. The recommendation for smaller sculptures is two fixings, one at the front and one at the back. Large sculptures would require four fixings, one to each foot.
Small Spikes – recommended as a fixing for sculptures that have claws, such as the owl, ostrich and vulture. Great in soft or hard ground.£5.00 View ProductAdd to Cart
Medium Spikes – used with an O-Ring to add stability to any small to medium sculpture. Is suitable for use in soft and hard ground.£10.00 View ProductAdd to Cart
Large Spikes – used with an O-Ring to add stability to medium to large sculptures. Works well in both soft and hard ground.£10.00 View ProductAdd to Cart
If you have concerns about the durability of spike fixings or if you live in a windy area Pangea recommends using an Anchor Kit. The anchor kit should be considered when installing horses, zebras, large stags and the three larger giraffes – long legs can make them more susceptible to movement.
The kit comprises of a heavy-duty base plate, welded across front and back feet and is used with four anchors – this is the most versatile ground anchoring system you can get. The base plate sits in a channel in the ground, the anchors are secured using studs and washers. There are two kits available, both recommended for soft ground installation.
Small £150 – suitable for large stags, zebra, medium giraffes, horses. Large £300 – suitable for life size giraffes, large giraffes. See installation service below for any additional costs which may apply.
Small Kit – recommended with medium giraffe, large stag, zebra and horse. There is a base plate fixing procedure that is recommended for these sculptures when being located outdoors.£150.00 View ProductAdd to Cart

Soft Ground installation using our O-Ring and Spike fixings is a complementary service. With these fixings in hard ground there is a charge of £100. Anchor Kit installation in soft ground is £100. Anchor kit installation on a hard surface – price on application. Before ordering a sculpture determine the location, the surface type and the fixing type you require. The ground needs to be fairly level and free from any obstruction.
SCULPTURES WITH ANCHOR KITS WOULD BE INSTALLED AS FOLLOWS:
Sculpture will be sited to mark the base plate holes.
Holes are made in the ground deep enough for each anchor.
Anchors are positioned in the ground and the sculpture sited so that the base plate fits over the anchor points.
Studs are screwed onto the anchor, securing it to the base plate.
Once all fixings are complete the weight of the sculpture will push the base plate down slightly into the ground making them less noticeable.
